UniFi Identity Gate Access Guide

Follow these quick steps to set up your mobile credentials for community access gates

1

Open Your Invitation

  • Locate the Email or SMS text sent to you by the community UniFi administrator.
  • Find the message with the subject or headline labeled UniFi Identity Invitation.
  • Tap the Accept Invitation link securely contained inside.
2

Download the App

  • The invitation link will automatically guide you to your smartphone's native app store.
  • If prompted manually, open the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play Store (Android).
  • Search for and download UniFi Identity (verify it is the Identity app, not Network or Protect).
3

Load Your Credentials

  • After setup, open your initial invitation link once more, OR launch the app directly and key in the provided Workspace URL and Token.
  • Follow the interface prompts to create your secure password and sign in.
  • Your customized community digital keycard will immediately display in the application.
4

Configure Permissions

Ensure these configuration settings are active on your device to guarantee gate proximity detection:

  • Bluetooth: Must be toggled ON to smoothly link your device with physical readers.
  • Location Services: Set this option to "Always Allow". This handles background processes so you don't have to unlock your phone screen manually at every arrival.
  • Notifications: Turn on notifications to receive immediate status alerts.
5

How to Open Gates

  • Mobile Tap: Pull up the UniFi Identity dashboard and place your virtual pass card flat next to the physical gate entry box.
  • Hand Wave (Touchless): Simply leave your smartphone in your vehicle console, pocket, or bag, approach the reader, and swipe your hand directly past the detector.
  • Shake to Open: Wake up your phone's screen and gently shake the device when you are alongside the gate reader panel.
💡 Gate Troubleshooting: If a community gate reader fails to acknowledge your phone, verify that your device's Bluetooth is enabled and double-check that background app refresh is permitted for UniFi Identity.
